Port de Sóller
Port de Sóller is a wonderful little village situated in one of Mallorca's most beautiful harbours. It is surrounded on three sides by the Tramuntana mountains and offers magnificent mountain scenery and gorgeous sea views.
There is a great range of accommodation and restaurants that suit all budgets. The walkway along the harbour and beach front is amazing, especially at sunrise as you find the rays of sunlight marching slowly across the beach and harbour and at sunset where the sun disappears into the water.
Also on the menu of non cycling activities, the beach is very sheltered and nice for swimming; there is a popular tram that goes to Sóller regularly; shopping is limited in the Port to mainly tourist shops, but Sóller town has a good range of shops if needed.
The only downside (which depending on your goals for your stay, may actually be the reason you choose to stay here) I can think of is that even though access to the main mountain routes are fairly close, each day has to start with an uphill to get up and out of the Port. Depending on your fitness level and what you aim to achieve whilst staying here, this may become a consideration after the first day or two!
Going towards the north, the 14km uphill of Puig Major awaits you. Going south, the undulating climbs on the coastal route is the “easiest” way out, or the impressive Coll de Sóller needs conquering if you are heading inland.
The Orient Valley; the coastal routes towards Estellencs, Deiá and Andratx; the cycle routes of the South West plus the climbs of Coll de Sóller; Puig Major and Sa Calobra are right on your doorstep.
