Amazing sea and mountain views from Banyalbufar which clings to a steep hillside on the west coast of Mallorca. Access is by small and windy roads. The famous terraced hillsides which slope down to the sea were developed by the Moors. Until recently it was customary for each new generation to add a new tier.
The Arabic name means "vineyard by the sea" and was famed for its wine. Nowadays the terraces are used mainly to grow vegetables.It is popular with foreign artists.
